    After receiving nearly 1,400 submissions, we’re nearly ready to name America’s Best Card Shop™. a prize package worth approximately $50,000 is on the line, and there are only four stores standing.


    These are the America’s Best Card Shop™ finalists:

    • Baseball Card Connection (Effingham, IL) —Baseball Card Connection is a family-owned card shop that has been in business for 30 years. It operates out of a 6,000 square foot store in downtown Effingham, and has more than 10 million cards in stock.
    • The Card Vault (Foxborough, MA) — Located across the street from Gillette Stadium where the New England Patriots play, The Card Vault bills itself as “the ultimate sports card experience.” The Card Vault is a modern retail shop for collectors to buy, sell, trade, and submit their cards for grading.
    • Honey Hole Collectibles (Escondido, CA) — Honey Hole Collectibles is a shop that has something for everyone. It boasts a huge inventory of the newest releases, an incredible selection of cards from the 80s and 90s, and cases full of graded singles. Honey Hole is located 30 minutes north of San Diego.
    • Real Sportscards (Champlin, MN) —Located just outside of Minneapolis, Real Sportscards has reimagined the traditional sports card store. Their flagship shop in Champlin features a sales floor, a lounge, and studios where they break online for more than 10 hours every day.

    The four finalists were selected by an all-star panel of judges of well-known personalities within the sports card hobby including: Topps’ Hobby Sales Director Kevin O’Neil, Women of the Hobby co-founder and industry veteran Susan “Sooz” Lulgjuraj, Loupe founder and CEO Eric Doty, Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon, and artist and entrepreneur DJ Skee.

  • What’s in the Box: 2021 Panini Contenders Optic Football

    Last week Panini gave us Flawless, and this week they return with another big-time release with 2021 Panini Contenders Optic Football. Optic takes the familiar look and feel of Contenders but adds a little more spice to it with the cards printed on opti-chrome stock. Yet, while there is so much familiar with this product, there are a few new elements you wouldn’t want to miss.

    2021 Panini Contenders Optic Football’s 100-card base set features the expected standard Season Ticket and Rookie Ticket with nine different parallels including the 1/1 Gold Vinyl parallel.

    New in 2021 Optic inserts include Optic Illusion, Splitting Imageand Up and Coming, which highlights the young stars of the NFL. You can expect one insert per box on average.


    As mentioned earlier, Rookie Ticket Autographs found a new home among the other autograph inserts with 10 parallel variations of its own. You already know all the big names from the 2021 draft class, and Contenders Optic comes with two autos per box. The odds of hitting a big name are pretty good.
