What’s in the Box: 2022 Topps Sterling

Sometimes a new product launches, and we know it’s going to dominate hits of the week for the immediate future. 2022 Topps Sterling is a prime example. It’s a high-end release that holds a ton of potential, and a lot of fun stuff is going to come out of it.

What to Expect

  • 1 card per pack
  • 2 packs per box
  • 8 boxes per case

Base

Hahahaha, Topps Sterling doesn’t do “base” cards. This is a product that goes big. Literally every single pack features an autographed relic card numbered to 25 or less. The lower-numbered parallels are extra neat because they add extra relics to the card. For instance, a Blue /10 might have three relics, whereas the Silver 1/1 might have five relics.

One of the defining features of Topps Sterling is that each pack is themed. You’ll crack into a case and the two packs might say something like “Silver Sluggers of the ’80s” and “World Series Heroes.” It adds an extra level of intrigue to the proceedings.

Unique Relics

There’s one exception to every card being an autographed relic. There are a handful of Unique Relics that are all one-of-ones. This is where you’ll find bat knobs and oversized jersey swatches. However, it’s also where you’ll find a ton of really special autographs.

For instance, the Legendary Cut Signature Relics are all one-of-ones and feature an incredible checklist with names like Babe Ruth, Honus Wagner, Ted Williams, and Willie Mays. The more expansive Cut Signatures checklist dabbles outside of sports with autos from people like Aretha Franklin, Johnny Cash, and Johnny Carson. These are really cool places to get pieces of history from people who have long since passed.

Unique Relics land approximately two per case (1 in every 4 boxes). That means 2022 Topps Sterling is a fantastic place to go one-of-one hunting. The odds are in your favor that you’ll pull a card that literally no one else in the world owns.

Bottom Line

Topps Sterling lives up to its name. This is a first-rate product. Every card is a hit, and every card is something that’s worth adding to the personal collection. Whether you’re ripping or just cheering others on, we’re going to have a lot of fun with Topps Sterling on Loupe, so be sure to jump on the app and if you are new, sign up and get free Loupe credits towards your first purchase.
