Our favorite sports card releases in August

Happy weekend Loyal Loupers! Before we dive into this blog, I’d be doing you a disservice not to mention the packed couple days going on here at Loupe. We have the return of Partytime Party Packs at 11:00pm ET on Saturday, and then a Sunday night doubleheader with Lab 20 Repacks at 8:00pm ET and Basketball Card Guy Singles & Player Packs at 9:30pm ET.

For those of you who didn’t immediately close this tab to go get some CRAZY deals on cards, hi! Today I’ll be looking at a few of the best sports card sets releasing in August. Each of the major manufacturers is bring the heat across all sports this month, so let’s take a look at some of the highlights!

2021 Panini Gold Standard Football (August 4)

Originally this blog was titled “releases we’re most excited for this month,” but that would be doing a disservice to the next two products I’ll be discussing that already dropped earlier in August. Panini Gold Standard is one of your first chances to chase this year’s rookie class in their NFL uniforms, and these cards are SHARP.

From the hobby box shaped like a bar of gold to the actual design of the cards, Gold Standard is aesthetically one of my favorite products of the year. We’ve already seen some bangers pulled on Loupe, and with the NFL season fast approaching I have a feeling we’ll be seeing even more huge hits from this awesome set very soon.

2021 Topps Allen & Ginter Baseball (August 11)

As I mentioned above, there was one more set that recently dropped that HAD to be on this list. Is there any surprise that it’s Allen & Ginter? I’d rename an article 100 times before I’d leave A&G out of any blog discussing the best card releases this month.

This set is a favorite of the hobby community every year, and it’s clear to see why. The vintage design of the card pops, the out there checklist really adds an element of surprise to the product, and it’s just one of the most fun rips on the market. Allen & Ginter is a clear example of why so many of us fell in love with card collecting to begin with, and I know I’ve already ripped my fair share of it this week!

2021 Topps Chrome Baseball (August 20)

SPOILER ALERT: There’s going to be TONS of Topps Chrome ripped on Loupe over the next few weeks. One of the headline baseball card releases of the year drops next week, and I for one couldn’t be more excited.

If you collect baseball cards, there’s nothing not to love about Topps Chrome. It has everything that makes the flagship Topps Baseball sets so popular for baseball fans and collectors with a glossy/higher quality feel, and the increased value of a Chrome rookie card adds that higher element of chase to the product as well. Stay tuned to Loupe social media and push notifications during the week for your first chance to rip this year’s edition of Topps Chrome!

2021 Panini Prizm WNBA (August 25)

While this set won’t receive the attention that the Prizm NFL and NBA sets will, Prizm WNBA is secretly one of the best rips of the year. And can I let you in on another secret? It won’t be too long before EVERYONE realizes that.

The debut of Prizm WNBA in 2020 was a massive success, and it’s clear as the league continues to gain popularity, the cards will too. This is one of those products you want to jump on as early as possible, because it’s very likely that the value of this set only goes up over time.

2021 Topps Dynasty Formula 1 (August 25)

If you couldn’t tell from my blog post a couple months back, I’m an F1 stan. The debut of Topps Chrome F1 has consistently been my favorite rip of the year, and while it may be at a higher price-point, Topps Dynasty is somehow even cooler.

I could go on and on about how much I love the design of the cards, but you want another reason to pay attention to this set? Go ahead and look up how much autos of Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen are going for from the 2020 edition of Dynasty and get back to me.

Thanks to everyone for reading this weekend’s blog post! As always, make sure you have the Loupe app downloaded and updated so you can be the first to rip these and all the other new sports card releases at the tap of a button!
