Will Giannis rookie cards follow LeBron’s and spike soon?

We have a slightly abridged Loupe Market Report powered by SlabStox this week. Everyone’s on their way to Chicago for The National, but we still got a video for you before our bags are packed. Then it’s onto the biggest card show of the year.

Now that the Milwaukee Bucks have won the NBA Championship, we’ve seen Giannis Antetokounmpo’s cards surge despite a slow time in the overall market. That’s no surprise given how dominant his NBA Finals were. But, will they go even higher?

After LeBron led the Lakers to a title last year, his cards bumped following the Finals, but that’s not where they peaked. They spiked at the start of the following season, and into those first few months when the Lakers started super hot. People were buying in anticipation of LeBron leading LA to a second straight title. If Giannis and the Bucks get off to a good start next year, expect his cards to skyrocket relative to where they are now.

In baseball, we’re checking back in on Wander Franco. His 1st Bowman Chrome PSA 10 has tanked following a rough first month in the big leagues. People are really overreacting to Franco’s struggles adjusting to MLB pitching, as his prices have approximately halved since his callup in late June. Given that Franco’s considered a can’t-miss prospect, it’s an amazing opportunity to buy low on a guy who’s going to course correct at some point.

Aaron Rodgers seems ready to come back to Green Bay for at least one more year. It has led to a recovery in his cards now that collectors have some idea where he’ll be this fall. Jordan Love will probably dip, and Rodgers will probably get a bump. If this plays out as expected, it might be smart to buy Love when he’s low. You’ll get good prices on a solid prospect who’s almost guaranteed to start in the 2022 season.

Finally, Kylian Mbappe’s Select rookie PSA 10 is down significantly after France’s underwhelming exit from the Euros. The soccer season is set to kick off soon and PSG will find itself near the top of the table like it always does. Expect his cards to recover because you can’t keep a superstar down for long. And just imagine if he ends up at Real Madrid or Liverpool! His prices will look like they’re on a rocketship.

Thanks for watching, and we hope to see you at The National this week! If you’re in Chicago, we’d love if you came to the SlabStox Charity Night on Friday, July 30 at 6pm Central. We’re hoping to raise more than $100,000 for the kids. Check out all the details on our site. Have a good show, everyone!
