Loupe Market Report — What’s going on with Target?

Welcome back for the third episode of the Loupe Market Report powered by SlabStox. Last week, the buzz around the hobby was that Target suspended all card sales until the chain can build better processes around how to safely and fairly distribute them. We kick off the show by talking about that a bit and then getting into some alternatives for retail that would help grow the hobby.

We also touch on some guys whose cards are moving for all sorts of reasons. Julius Randle has seen his cards spike because he’s led the Knicks back to relevancy. Shohei Ohtani is lighting up sales because he’s having a two-way season unlike anything ever seen in modern baseball. Aaron Rodgers is a big old question mark because no one’s sure where he’s going to play next year — and the value of his cards depends on the caliber of team he ends up on. Man City’s Ferran Torres is seeing a nice bump following the youngster’s breakout performance where he netted a hat trick against Newcastle.

That’s it for this week! Tune in tomorrow, Thursday May 20 at 6pm Eastern, to catch the SlabStox live show exclusively on the Loupe app. We also have a new episode of the Loupe Marketplace Report every Wednesday, which you can always find in the news feed.
